- PSAT scores are usually released the first week of December.
- The 2022 PSAT testing dates are October 12, October 15, and October 25.

- A good PSAT score is typically in the 75th percentile or higher.
The PSAT, or Preliminary SAT, is not only a practice SAT — it’s also a gauge for college readiness and a way to qualify for a National Merit Scholarship. Lasting nearly three hours, the PSAT tests your reading, writing, and math skills.
Each year in October, high school students across the U.S. — mainly 10th and 11th graders — take the PSAT. The College Board, which administers the exam, typically releases PSAT scores at the beginning of December.

That said, your guidance counselor may receive your PSAT score report even earlier, so you shouldn’t have to wait long to learn how you performed on this important test.
When Are PSAT Scores Released?
PSAT scores are typically released 4-6 weeks after the exam is held in October. The College Board’s timeline for educators indicates that this year’s PSAT scores will be released online December 5-6, 2022.
The exact day and time PSAT scores come out will vary depending on your state.
Your high school guidance counselor will have access to your scores before the official online release date. Educators will also be able to access PSAT scores online in late November.
When Do You Take the PSAT?
The PSAT is offered every year in October, usually on a primary date, a Saturday date, and an alternate date.
Not every high school will administer the PSAT on the Saturday and alternate dates, so check with your guidance counselor ahead of time and do your best to make it to the primary test date.
|Primary Test Day||Wednesday, October 12, 2022|
|Saturday Test Day||October 15, 2022|
|Alternate Test Day||Tuesday, October 25, 2022|
Students typically take the PSAT in 10th and/or 11th grade. You can take the PSAT only once a year. If you take it as a junior, your score could qualify you for a National Merit Scholarship.
Most high schools facilitate the PSAT for their students. If your school doesn’t offer the PSAT, you can register to take it at a different local school. Your guidance counselor should be able to help you sign up and navigate the registration process.
How to Check PSAT Scores
The College Board releases PSAT score reports on its website. You must create an account on the College Board website to be able to access your PSAT score report.
Your high school may also choose to print and distribute PSAT score reports to students. Your guidance counselor will receive your scores, so feel free to ask them for your score report if you have trouble accessing it online.
What Is a Good PSAT Score?
The PSAT is scored on a scale of 320-1520. This means a perfect PSAT score is 1520.
Along with your overall score, the PSAT score report will include percentiles comparing you to other students who took the PSAT that year.
Scoring in the 85th percentile means you scored better than 85% of test-takers. Typically, a score in or around the 75th percentile can be considered a good PSAT score. To qualify for a National Merit Scholarship, you must generally score in the top 1% of test-takers.
